"A Taste of Hineini" - Event Introduces New Hebrew High School Program!

MARBLEHEAD-The North Shore Hebrew School will present its new supplementary Hebrew high school for students in grades 7-8, Hineini, , on Thursday, February 3 at 6:15pm at the Jewish Community Center, 4 Community Road.

Pizza and salads will be served. Free and open to the community. RSVP required.

Sixth through eighth graders and their parents will learn from Nicole Levy and Heather Greenberg about Dona Gracia Mendes, a 16th-century Portuguese businesswoman who rescued Jews from the Spanish Inquisition. Art activity included.

Students enrolled in Hineini will learn tools for actively participating in a Jewish community. During the first term, beginning Sunday, March 6 from 9:30am-11:30am at Temple Sinai, they will take classes “How Do I Show Courage?” and  Nick’s Jewish Film Picks.  They will discuss Jewish current events, practice Hebrew reading and participate in community service projects.

Cost is $195 for eight sessions, running until mid-May.

In “How Do I Show Courage?” students will learn from famous Jewish heroes, such as Sandy Koufax, Golda Meir, Hannah Senesh, Natan Sharansky and Sonia Weitz, about standing up for one’s principles.

In Nick’s Jewish Film Picks, students will discuss movies showing interactions between Jews of different traditions.

Contact Heather Greenberg by January 29 at hgreenbergnshs@yahoo.com to RSVP for “Taste of Hineini.”
